The show starts with a recap of the beat the clock challenge. It was a nice episode.
The first segment between Vicky Guerrero/Edge/Rey Mysterio/Chavo Guerrero was a good one. It set up the night with the main event being announced as Rey Mysterio vs Chavo Guerrero and continued to put heat on Vicky Guerrero and Edge. The storyline of the Guerrero is a bit old but it was nice for the use it had in this first segment of the show.

Match 1: Jamie Noble vs Chuck Palumbo
Jamie beats Palumbo 4 straight times. Palumbo dominated most of the match, he did some nice moves but eventually Noble came back and won with a crucifix pin. After the match, Chuck looks angry at McCool but Noble comes out and looks in the eyes of Palumbo. Interesting storyline between those two.
MATCH RATING: *1/2
Match 2: MVP vs Batista
MVP did a little promo before the match for his match against Flair at the Rumble. Nice mic work again by MVP. The match was fine for TV. I didn’t like the countout ending but it was fitting because both men couldn’t loose because they would’ve lost momentum entering the Rumble. MVP worked a smart match and Batista never really got big offence.
MATCH RATING: **
Match 3: Undertaker vs Matt Stryker/Mark Henry
Undertaker won a pretty quick match. He did the tombstone on Stryker. It wasn’t a good match. Big Daddy V and Mark Henry attacked Taker after the match but the deadman eventually fought them off and did the chokeslam on Henry.
MATCH RATING: ½*
Nice backstage segment between Finlay/Hornswoggle/Vince McMahon. Vince McMahon says to Finlay to be with Horny in the arm wrestling contest. In my opinion, this storyline which started terribly is now starting to be interesting between McMahon and Finlay.
Ranjin Singh is now out to compete against Hornswoggle in an arm wrestling contest. They give Hornswoggle a chair so he can be tall enough to do the contest. Finlay takes some sort of remote control that gave Singh an electric shock when he put his arm on the table, so Hornswoggle was able to win this way. Funny, but meaningless.
Match 4: Kane vs Deuce
SQUASH.
MATCH RATING: NR
Match 5: Rey Mysterio vs Chavo Guerrero
Edge is totally awesome on commentary in this match. He had tons of great exchanges with Cole. The match had some botched spots but overall, it was a nice main event for Smackdown. There were really nice moves done by both men and it had enough time and enough offence by Chavo so he could still be seen as a legitimate contender for Punk’s title and not just an easy win by Mysterio. Mysterio finally won after the 619 and the splash from the top rope.
MATCH RATING: **3/4
After the match, Edge attacks Mysterio but he comes back and goes for the 619 before Edge’s buddies interfere and attack Mysterio 3 on 1 to end the show.
Final Review: Good show again from Smackdown. Every week, Smackdown gives at least one good match and great story telling. This week the main event and the MVP/Batista were nice TV matches and the Edge/Vicky storyline continues to be really good. Thumbs up to Smackdown.
